About
My love for language developed at a very young age and I soon knew I wanted to create my own stories and manipulate my own words. From reading Charlotte’s Web to Faulkner, I became a massive consumer of all things written.
Becoming the youngest Editor-in-Chief of my high school newspaper taught me early on that writing cannot always be a creative whim, played with when the mood strikes. In this role, I learned to discipline and temper my abilities. More importantly, I became skilled in creating quality work efficiently. With deadlines looming, layout to create, and printing imminent I learned the world would not wait for inspiration to strike.
I encountered a strange new world whilst earning my BA in English. Professors opened my eyes to new genres, different analyses of familiar books, and exciting paths my writing could take me. These revelations were life changing, altering my direction from becoming a primary school teacher and allowing me to explore other possibilities. I travelled, I wrote.
The most recent role as product development executive has allowed me to combine all my varied skills. From communication to customer service, the role demanded a great deal of multi-tasking and a high attention to detail. Through copywriting for the website, assisting in site redesigns, and maintaining client relationships, I developed a passion for new media and marketing. Already active in new media and online social communities, I immediately saw the importance of reaching customers through these sources.
The world of communication has shifted and is developing every day. Writing a successful blog, participating in online communities, and exploring new ways to reach people gives me an excitement to be on the forefront of this expanding world. Print and electronic content is equally important, though two very different beasts.
